Megha Rajagopalan is an award-winning international correspondent for BuzzFeed News, based in the Middle East. Before this she spent six years in China and Southeast Asia as a political correspondent for Reuters and as BuzzFeed's first China bureau chief. She has covered stories ranging from the North Korean nuclear crisis to the drug war in the Philippines. Rajagopalan was the first journalist to document the rise of mass surveillance in China's far west. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and is a former Fulbright scholar and research fellow at the New America Foundation in Washington DC.
