As Vice President of Digital Products and UX, Bethany Powell James collaborates with designers, editors, product and technology teams to create digital experiences for National Geographic. She also explores products in the immersive space and is currently collaborating with MPC on an immersive experience due out in 2018.
Bethany's work has received widespread recognition for digital storytelling from notable publications including the American Society of Magazine Editors, Society of Publication Designers, Society of News Design, Online News Association, Communication Arts, The Webbys and more. She was also on the judging panel for the 2017 Society for News Design and has spoken at conferences including the American Society of Magazine Editors and the Open Digital Summit.
Prior to joining National Geographic's digital team, Bethany designed projects for photographers and their publishers including Dewi Lewis Publishing, Editorial RM, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Kerher Verlag.
