Soumaya Keynes

Soumaya Keynes is the U.S. Economics Editor for The Economist magazine, based in Washington, DC. As well as covering the American economy, she leads The Economist’s coverage of trade, with a particular focus on the Trump administration’s trade agenda. She also co-hosts the Trade Talks podcast about the economics of trade policy with Chad Bown of the Peterson Institute for International Economics. Previously she was The Economist’s economics correspondent in London, covering topics as varied as the economics of quinoa to the under-representation of women in economics. Before joining The Economist she was an economic researcher at the Institute for Fiscal Studies and a policy adviser at HM Treasury.
