Stephen MacKenzie

Stephen MacKenzie is the CEO of the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation (WE EDC), a non-profit working to advance economic development across the Canadian region that shares a border with Detroit, Michigan. His leadership of WE EDC involves collaboration with the city of Detroit on numerous cross-border initiatives, notably on innovation, smart borders, and autonomous/connected technology.
Mr. MacKenzie’s 23 years of experience in economic development organizations includes multiple executive leadership positions advancing the state of Connecticut’s economic development efforts, as well as developing CTNext, the innovation ecosystem for Connecticut. He also helped found the Academy of Information Technology for the local school system, and implemented a business assistance program called "The Mayor's Initiative for Small Business."
He holds an MBA from European University in Belgium and received his BA in Commerce from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia.
