Wajahat Ali is an author, recovering attorney, TED speaker, Peabody-nominated producer and tired dad of three cute kids. He is a columnist for The Daily Beast and MSNBC and co-host of the weekly Democracy-ish podcast. He is the author of Go Back to Where You Came From: And Other Helpful Recommendations On How to Become American (Norton 2022) and the play The Domestic Crusaders (McSweeney’s 2021). Currently, he’s a Senior Fellow at The Western States Center and Auburn Seminary. He has given keynote speeches around the world such as TED, The Aspen Ideas Festival, Google, the United Nations, and The New Yorker Festival. He was a contributing op-ed writer for The New York Times, host for The Huffington Post, and a commentator for CNN. He was also cited as CNN’s 25 Most Influential Muslims and helped launch the Al Jazeera America network as co-host of Al Jazeera America’s The Stream.
