Meghan Wells serves as the Cultural Arts Division Manger for the City of Austin as of January 1, 2016. In this role, Wells oversees all Cultural Arts Division programs including cultural funding, Art in Public Places, the People’s Gallery exhibition, and creative placemaking and economic development initiatives. The Cultural Arts Division of the Economic Development Department provides leadership and management for the City’s cultural arts programs and for the development of arts and cultural industries.
Wells brings over 18 years of professional experience in the cultural arts and nonprofit fields. Prior to this role, Wells worked within the Cultural Arts Division for the Art in Public Places program for 11 years; first as a project coordinator and, since 2010, as the program’s administrator. She earned a B.A. in English and political science from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO, and an M.A. in museum science from Texas Tech University.
