Dr. Bhatt serves as Senior VP and CMO of the American Hospital Association. He has worked on advancing quality, age-friendly health systems, eliminating health disparities, addressing the opioid epidemic and maternal and child health. He was the first Chief Health Officer at the Illinois Health & Hospital Association. Previously, he was Managing Deputy Commissioner and CINO for the Chicago Department of Public Health. There he led the implementation of Healthy Chicago, the city's public health agenda, and innovations in cross-sector partnerships, predictive analytics, epidemiology and informatics. He is a Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine faculty member and practicing internist/geriatrician. He received his MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, a MPH from the University of Illinois and a DO from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is an Aspen Health Innovator Fellow. He was a Crain’s Chicago 40 under 40 and a Presidential Leadership Scholar.
