Cypher is a robotic VR sculpture. By combining an interactive soft robotic body with a virtual interface, it establishes a bridge between the physical and digital worlds, collapsing them into the same experiential plane by synchronizing virtual reality with human-robot interaction. Through a sensor array, the sculpture has an ability to detect the proximity of the audience and change its shape. The VR headset tethered to the sculpture teleports the user to its interior, radically shifting the scale of experience from object to space, making Cypher the first robotic VR art experience in the world where actions taken affect the physical and digital worlds simultaneously.
