Hammerhead

John Hammond was born with Proteus syndrome -- the same condition as Joseph Merrick aka 'The Elephant Man' (although not nearly as severe). Faced with adversity his whole life, he is now ready to leave home after graduate school, move to New York City and SUCCEED. Faced with the roller-coaster of challenges that life and burning ambition bring -- and compounded by his appearance -- John decides through sheer force of will, rock-solid determination and strategy to OWN who he is while navigating his way through cruelty, undermining personalities, and his own emotional ups & downs. John Hammond is a character that you may feel sorry for at first -- but eventually -- when you see how sharp, strong and how damn smooth he is -- you will wish you WERE him.
'Hammerhead' is a challenge to our proclaimed social justice credo of 'accepting all people for what they are.' Do we really accept those who are 'different' as equals? Beauty is still the ultimate free pass. John is not just a maverick hero for those on the fringes -- he is all of us.
This is a dark comedy about an underdog that plans to keep going with a ferocity that will make us all root for him -- relate to him -- and eventually, envy him. A success story for modern times.
