How was a sexual predator able to infiltrate some of the most powerful institutions in the United States, abuse hundreds of young girls, and get away with it for decades?
In the two years since the world first learned about Larry Nassar, the Olympic team doctor who sexually abused hundreds of children, the question of how is only beginning to be answered. A scandal of this magnitude can only truly be understood as part of a larger conversation about the sport of gymnastics and its approach to developing champions.
