Rainstorm Brother at The Hideout
Rainstorm Brother is the cinematic freak-folk of John Isaac Watters and Tyler Chester:
"John Isaac Watters has long been among the most cerebral, although under-appreciated, purveyors of folk music in Los Angeles, his spare meditations fraught with the fragility of his own humanity (and yours). During his 2016 residency at the Hi Hat, Watters unveiled the new collaboration Rainstorm Brother, which finds the singer-songwriter working with keyboardist-producer Tyler Chester to achieve a sound that might be described as cinematic freak-folk … or, at least, experimental and extraordinary." -buzzbands
Elements like fire, smoke, water and earth fill Rainstorm Brother's music. Ever changing and infinite, they seek to describe the vast and compounded wonders of heartache and loneliness. Combining radical live instrumentation with samples-and-laptop production, tectonic plates grinding against each other in orchestrated cacophony, Rainstorm Brother's music becomes more than just something you listen to, it's a structure you interact with, a conduit that channels the depths of the hearts of its two creators.
