The Bright Light Social Hour
On February 1, 2019, Austin, TX mood-punk psychonauts The Bright Light Social Hour released their leading-edge latest album, Jude, Vol. I. Produced by Chris Coady (Beach House, Slowdive, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), the deeply personal album was written after the passing of vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Jackie O'Brien's brother Alex, the band's longtime manager who suffered from bipolar disorder. Jude, Vol. I is the follow-up to 2015's Space Is Still The Place, which spawned a fierce cult following and songs licensed for Nintendo, HBO, MTV, Fox, Ubisoft, and NBC, ultimately leading to the band composing the theme for the hit Amazon series "Sneaky Pete" starring Giovanni Ribisi and Bryan Cranston. A tantalizing mainstay on the festival circuit, The Bright Light Social Hour have toured internationally and played Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Sasquatch! and Hangout Festival among others. Never ones to shy away from politics, the band has also built a reputation for their musical responses to current social issues, like "Tear Down That Wall," produced by Spoon's Jim Eno and released the day of Donald Trump's inauguration. The forthcoming Jude Vol. II is slated for a late 2019 release.
