Chris David Garcia
Chris David Garcia joined the MLB Houston Astros in 2007, where he transitioned from marketer to creative. Prior to the Astros, he worked in the MLS Houston Dynamo marketing team helping lead marketing and creative efforts in their first championship in 2006. In 2017, He helped lead the Astros creative team in industry leading creative content during their world series run. As a passionate creative visionary, he currently drives thought leadership in sports & active lifestyle branding experience in building and managing marketing strategies and creative campaigns to scale brand awareness, grow value and generate revenue. As a creative professional, Chris has helped shape some of professional sport’s most well known brands, working with world class professional athletes and top c-suite leaders to integrate campaign messages across all media channels. He currently plays a key role on the Marketing and Communications team that includes working very closely with organizational executive leadership while leading the Creative Services digital communications team across traditional and new media channels. Through this in-house agency environment that was built from the ground up, and his creative leadership, the team has been able to shape fan behavior and brand culture while contributing heavily to marketing strategy, engagement, reputation and revenue. Chris currently focuses on key areas of accountability, internal/external communication, cultivating creativity, creative problem-solving and overall innovation. He has been a leader in metric driven creative decision making and authentic storytelling content, allowing him to infuse an industry leading branded approach to his organization and compete at a high level. As a creative visionary with over 13 years of design, strategy, marketing & brand experience, he currently oversees design, photography, creative process and production, digital graphics, content planning, broadcast advertisement campaign development, signage and print graphics, along with special master planning and visual story telling projects. Chris has now led creative for two championship teams and has managed the rebranding efforts of multiple sports identities. In conjunction and in addition to the creative he leads with the Astros, Chris also founded a sports design-specific conference in it's 5th year called MLC Connect (Major Level Creative) where creative leaders are exclusively invited for a two-day conference, from all major sport leagues from around the nation, hosted annually at a sports venue. MLC Connect talks cover all things design, photography, video and content, while sharing processes and learning from one another - driving individual brands and an industry forward in design thinking and visual communication. The speakers range from leaders in design to industry peers. The conference is all about open-source process, collaborative learning and applying ideas to drive more value recognition for what creatives do as designers and thinkers.
