Bernie Kimbacher
As one of Image Engine’s longest serving crew members, Bernie Kimbacher has made significant contributions to many of the company’s most notable projects. Bernie joined Image Engine straight after completing his studies at Vancouver Film School in 2007, becoming a member of the previs team working on The Day the Earth Stood Still. Following his passion for 2D computer graphics, he soon joined the ranks of compositors working on some of Image Engine’s earliest feature films including The Incredible Hulk, District 9, The Thing, Battleship and Elysium. He has lent his skills as compositing supervisor to Child 44 and Lone Survivor (where he scaled mountains in New Mexico to capture data required to re-create the epic environments of Afghanistan) before acting as VFX Supervisor for Straight Outta Compton. In July of 2015 Bernie went to OATS Studios as 2D Supervisor where he contributed to Neill Blomkamp’s Rakka, Zygote and Firebase. He then joined Umedia as VFX Supervisor where he worked on The Meg, The Gifted, Cliffs of Freedom and Game Over Man! Bernie re-joined Image Engine as VFX Supervisor in 2018.
