John Sipher

John Sipher spent 28 years in the Central Intelligence Agency’s National Clandestine Service, including multiple times as chief of Station in Europe and Asia and as a member of the CIA’s Senior Intelligence Service, the leadership team that guides the CIA's global activities. For his service, he is the recipient of the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal. Since retiring in 2014, Sipher has become a sought-after foreign policy and intelligence expert, frequently writing for the Cipher Brief, Just Security, and the New York Times (among others), and appearing on CNN, MSNBC, and PBS NewsHour. He also does leadership and management training, focusing on on building cross-functional teams. Sipher is the head of New Media Frontier's Expert Group.
