Andy Roddick

Andrew Stephen Roddick is Founder and Chair of the Andy Roddick Foundation whose mission is to work with the community to expand opportunities for young people to learn, thrive and succeed. Founded in 2000, Andy envisioned the Foundation as agency for young people to find their passion as he did at age nine and held a tennis racket for the first time.  
 
Andy became a Grand Slam singles champion and world number one shortly after he won the title at the 2003 US Open, defeating French Open champion Juan Carlos Ferrero in the final and overtaking him as the top ranked player in the process. He is the most recent North American male player to win a Grand Slam singles event, reach the top ranking, and claim the year-end world number one ranking (2003). He was ranked in the top 10 for nine consecutive years between 2002 and 2010 at year's end, and won five Masters Series titles in that period. 
 
He is married to model, actress and entrepreneur Brooklyn Decker and they have two children.  On August 30, 2012, during the 2012 US Open and on his 30th birthday, Roddick announced that he would retire after the tournament. Roddick retired from the sport with the aim of focusing on his work at the Andy Roddick Foundation. Since 2000, the Foundation has raised over $15 million to support various youth-development organization. In 2012, Andy moved the Foundation from Florida to East Austin where it has been partnering with public schools and various summer and after-school programs. At present, over 3400 students benefit from out-of-school time programs both implemented and supported by the Foundation.
