Joy Butler
Joy L. Butler is a fourth generation Methodist and a LGBTQ+ ally who has lived in Texas for sixteen years with her beautiful family. She was awarded the national "Voices in the Wilderness" laity award in 2015 from Reconciling Ministries Network for her years of work opening hearts, minds, and doors in United Methodist congregations in central and south Texas. Her faith in God is lived out through prayer and social justice action, including witnessing for transgender equality at the state capitol.
Joy currently serves her local community in her third year as lead Coordinator for Austin’s Pride Interfaith CELEBRATION. This annual event held during Pride Week is open to all and brings together LGBTQ+ people and allies from a variety of cultures and faith backgrounds to celebrate and affirm all people as beautifully created and worthy of unconditional love and respect.
