Shayla Thiel Stern
Shayla Thiel Stern, Ph.D. is Director of Editorial & Content Strategy at Next Avenue and author of multiple publications and books about the intersections of identity, media, audiences and data, including "From the Dance Hall to Facebook" and "Instant Identity." She has worked in digital media for more than 20 years. Part of the team that launched The Washington Post to the web in 1996, Shayla has worked in digital media for more than 20 years, including roles in digital content strategy, engagement, editing and consulting at cars.com, Edmunds and Fast Horse, working with clients from DreamWorks to General Mills. She has contributed to a variety of media, including CNN.com and The Chicago Tribune, and has been a featured speaker at MIMA Summit, NYC Social Media Week, the International Communication Association, the Online Journalism Symposium and many other venues. Previously, she served on the journalism faculty at the University of Minnesota and DePaul University.
