Talia Schlanger
I'm the host and radio producer for the daily music interview show World Cafe, made at WXPN and distributed by NPR. I spin songs and talk to artists about what they make and what makes them tick. Before World Cafe I spent 3 years at Canada's national public broadcast CBC, based in my hometown of Toronto. My first gig at CBC was producing the Canadian Screen Award winning cross-country rock and roll road trip we called "Beetle Roadtrip Sessions". My last gig there included hosting the national weekend morning music show, a weekly national music TV show called "CBC Music's Backstage Pass" and filling in as a guest host on arts and culture flagship show "q" as well as guest stints on current affairs radio show Day 6 and comedy radio show Because News. In my past life I was a theatre performer/professional headbanger who performed in the first US National Tour of Green Day's "American Idiot" as well as the original Canadian company of Queen's "We Will Rock You". I still headbang, but now just recreationally.
