Anya Domlesky

Assoc Co-Lead, XL
SWA

Anya Domlesky is an urban designer at SWA Group where she co-leads XL: Experiments in Landscape and Urbanism, the firm wide innovation lab doing practice-based research. As a designer, Anya focuses on landscape-driven urban design and environmental planning. She has worked largely on issues around urbanization, coasts, and water—in Belgrade, the Bay Area, Haiti, Louisiana, the Great Lakes, Siberia, South Florida, and New York City. Her research on the built environment focuses on scales beyond the designed site: smaller, at the scale of a material, and larger, at the scale of cities and regions, looking at infrastructure, natural resources, and drivers in the process of urban building and unbuilding. Recently, her research was shown at the 2016 Venice Biennale of Architecture and included in Third Coast Atlas. Anya has taught at Harvard Graduate School of Design and Boston Architectural College. She completed her graduate work in landscape architecture at Harvard Graduate School of Design and in architecture at McGill University.
