Wendell Bartnick

Wendell is an attorney in Reed Smith LLP’s IP, Tech & Data Group. He has a computer science background and extensive experience advising technology companies on privacy, data protection, and e-commerce matters. He provides public and private clients in various industries with advice on regulatory compliance, technology-related agreements, and data breach response efforts. Wendell focuses his practice on federal and state privacy and data protection laws and guidance, including industry sector-specific laws and best practices. He counsels Internet start-up clients on reducing risk in a practical and affordable manner, and drafts online terms & conditions and privacy policies for them. He also frequently helps clients handle data security incidents from start to finish. In addition to strategizing the overall breach response approach, he helps manage and implement incident response efforts, including working with forensics and other consultants, drafting voluntary and legally required notices, and communicating with law enforcement and other government officials.
