Yilong Lai is the founder and CEO of Lizhi. In 1997 Lai devoted himself into Internet entrepreneurship and successively founded companies like Qixintong, 183 Community etc., which greatly helped Lai accumulate precious experience in the realm of Internet technology. Lai established Lizhi in 2013 and by identifying and grabbing the prior needs of users’ who listened to online audios, Lizhi successfully gained one million loyal users within a mere 3-month period. Lizhi was enlisted as “Ten Chinese Corporations That Influence Our Lives” by the American business magazine “Fast Company” (Chinese Version) in the same year. In October, 2016, Lizhi issued voice broadcasting and is now developing into the most active pan-entertainment interactive community through voice in China. Lai posits that the intention of enacting voice broadcasting was to cater to the need that the anchors crave more vivid interaction with their fans, as opposed to blindly catching up with the surge of video broadcasting. Emotions transmitted and delivered by voice are bound to be richer. Only with better contents can the constant user’s stickiness be ensured.
