Richard Jefferson
Richard is the Entertainment/IP Managing Partner at m.e.t.a.l. Law Group, LLP, a firm that he co-founded in 2003. He practices intellectual property, entertainment, and business law.
Richard has extensive experience serving as General Counsel for companies/brands, and as Production Counsel for creative projects. For his clients, he routinely puts together ventures; negotiates deals; manages and protects IP portfolios and intangible assets, including copyrights, trademarks, and online/digital assets (domains, social media); handles or mediates disputes. His clientele operate in innovative fields, such as music, television, film, digital, fashion/apparel, animation, e-commerce, video gaming, digital, and VR/AR/MR. Over his career, he has represented Emmy®, Grammy®, and Oscar® nominees and winners, professional athletes, and prominent entrepreneurs in negotiations with major companies including Universal Records, Universal Music Publishing Group, Capital Records, EMI Publishing, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Warner Bros. Records, Warner-Chappell Music, Electronic Arts, Capcom, Ubisoft, Disney, Nickelodeon, E!
