Ta-Nehisi Coates

Ta-Nehisi Coates is a national correspondent for The Atlantic. His book Between The World And Me won the National Book Award in 2015. He is also the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship.
Coates' forthcoming book, We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy (available on October 3rd or pre-order today), examines the threads between the unprecedented election of Barack Obama and what fueled the election of Donald Trump, who Coates argues is America’s “first white president.”
The book revisits each year of the Obama administration through Coates’ experiences and observations, all of which are linked together through iconic essays previously published in The Atlantic, including “Fear of a Black President,” “The Case for Reparations,” and “The Black Family in the Age of Mass Incarceration."
Since 2016, Coates has also written Marvel’s The Black Panther comic book.
He currently lives in New York with his wife and son.
