Candice Kumai
Candice Kumai is the country’s leading wellness journalist and the most trusted source in clean eating. She is the 5x best-selling author of Clean Green Eats, Clean Green Drinks, Pretty Delicious, Cook Yourself Sexy, and Cook Yourself Thin. Candice is a regular contributor to E! News, The Dr. Oz Show and The Today Show. At the age of 22, Candice classically trained as a chef and is a Top Chef alumna (season 1). Candice appears as a regular judge on Iron Chef America and Beat Bobby Flay. She writes regularly for top tier publications such as ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Bon Appétit, Shape, Self, Yoga Journal, Men’s Journal, ELLE Japan, The Wall Street Journal, and Well + Good.Candice is of Japanese-American descent, she is a former model and the former Food Editor-at-Large + Columnist at Shape and Men’s Fitness. As an invited speaker, Candice has spread her message of wellness in collaboration with global brands and institutions including, Adidas, Nike, Shiseido, Chanel, Reebok, Whole Foods, the NBA, WME/IMG, The New York Times, SoHo House, The Bar Method, The James Beard Foundation, The Deepak Chopra Center at ABC Home, Lululemon, Yale University, University of San Diego, ABC Home, NYC Slow Food, and The Natural Gourmet Institute. She will be speaking at SXSW, March, 2018.
Candice is obsessed with avocados, coconut and matcha. She lives in Brooklyn, NY and runs her small business producing, writing, directing and creating original content. She is an instructor at The Natural Gourmet Institute. She currently sits on the Well + Good Council. She is currently writing her sixth book on Japanese wellness with HarperCollins publishing in NYC and Japan.
Candice has dedicated much of her time to philanthropic work, volunteering and mentoring in her community. She works in collaboration with The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI), The Resolution Project, Thousand Days, The Japan Society, Wellness in The Schools (WITS), Health Corps, The US Japan Council, The Chef’s Garden, The Pink Gala and The James Beard Foundation on a volunteer basis. She serves as a mentor for high school and college students through Health Corps and The Resolution Project, and volunteers at her local hometown church as well as soup kitchens throughout San Diego, CA.
