Amber Thomas
By training, Amber Thomas is a marine biologist, having obtained both her B.S. and M.S. in marine biology. During her time as a scientific researcher, she was a strong advocate for making data and analysis tools "open-sourced". This practice allows other researchers to easily replicate studies or analyze the data in a novel way. Now, she is more involved in science communication, data visualization, and telling data-driven stories. One such story focuses on the amount of dialogue spoken by female characters in 2016's biggest films. Amber continues to spend her time telling stories using open and available data sources. She is currently working as a "Maker" of data-stories at Polygraph, an incubator for visually driven storytelling.
