Jamie Broadnax is the Creator and Managing Editor of Black Girl Nerds, an online community for nerdy black women. After several years of blogging about the local independent film scenes in New York, Virginia and North Carolina, Jamie decided to create the blog Black Girl Nerds in February 2012. Since launching the platform, Jamie and BGN have received various awards and accolades, from “Best Podcast” by The Black Weblog Awards to “Four Black Techies to Follow on Twitter” by AT&T’s The Bride. In 2014, Jamie was included on MSNBC The Grio.com’s Top 100 list and recognized by TV powerhouse Shonda Rhimes in Marie Claire magazine as one of her favorites to follow on Twitter. In 2018, Jamie will debut Universal Fan Con, a multi-fandom Con dedicated to inclusion highlighting women, LGBTQ, PoC & the Disabled. She also has a book due to be released by Penguin Random House called Black Girl Nerds about the intersection of Black feminism and nerd culture.
