Elizabeth Lindsey
Elizabeth Lindsey is the Executive Director of Byte Back, a Washington, DC based nonprofit providing free technology education and career training to unemployed adults. Under Elizabeth's leadership, Byte Back's innovative training pathway is earning national attention and support. The dynamic organization helps people traditionally left out of the tech sector reach their potential in living-wage careers.
Prior to joining Byte Back in 2015, Elizabeth served for four years as the Chief Operating Officer of Groundswell, a DC-based environmental nonprofit. She oversaw Groundswell’s evolution from a start-up, community-based organization into a nationally-recognized social enterprise.
Elizabeth also helped lead workforce development efforts with the DC Department of Employment Services and minority and women small business development with the New Jersey Department of the Treasury. She earned her master’s in public affairs and urban and regional planning from Princeton University and her bachelor’s from Swarthmore College.
Elizabeth serves on the Board of Directors of The Workplace DC, the Goodwill Excel Center, The Engine Room, and the National Digital Inclusion Alliance. In 2017, she competed in the WeWork Creator Awards pitch competition, winning the top scale prize of $360,000 for Byte Back. Elizabeth is a recognized leader in tech, featured in the Washington Business Journal and named a 2017 Tech Titan by the Washingtonian, a DC Inno 50 on Fire Winner, and a DCA Live New Power Woman of DC Tech. She also serves as an Organizer for DC Tech Meetup, with 21,000 members.
Elizabeth is dedicated to helping people feel empowered by technology and to opening doors to living-wage careers for thousands of people.
