Joe Jenkins
Joe served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, where he deployed to the Al-Anbar province of Iraq and to disaster relief operations in the Carribean. After his service in the military, Joe returned to his hometown of Dallas, Texas to serve as high school science teacher with Teach for America. Joe took a sabbatical from teaching to graduate from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a Masters in Public Affairs and was a Ben Barnes Fellow. He is also a Magna cum Laude graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas. While earning his masters degree, he served as the Pennoyer Fellow for the Refugee Protection team at Human Rights First, advocating for improvements to U.S. refugee policy.
