Mary Tobin

Mary Tobin, Director, Brownsville Partnership, Community Solutions, has over 15 years of leader development, project management, community engagement and public speaking experience. She is extremely passionate about addressing the social justice issues that negatively affect underserved communities while working with globally minded leaders and organizations to develop solutions that will positively impact these underserved cities and communities. She is also diversity and inclusion consultant who works with organizations to create diverse and inclusive working environments in a variety of industries to include entertainment, technology, government, and nonprofit. Mary is very active in the world of advocacy and activism as she focuses on addressing race and gender biases in the military and the society at large. Her public relations campaigns in the media have established her as a thought leader in the diversity and inclusion field, and she has been featured in major publications such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN, CBS, ABC, the Washington Post, and the Associated Press. She has also lectured at the University of Alabama, University of Georgia, Texas Tech University, Fordham University, and Radio One on diversity issues and leader development.

After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. in Systems Engineering, Mary began her professional career as a communications officer in the United States Army; serving in a variety of military units throughout the world including two combat tours in Iraq. After completing her military service she was selected as a Fellow on the President's Management Council, conducting strategic planning for the Department of Treasury. Prior to her role at the Brownsville Partnership, she served as a Senior IT Project and Program Manager for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. She also holds a MBA from the New York Institute of Technology.
