Dean Rodney Jr
27-year-old Dean has an interesting view on the world, which is informed by his autism. His creative work makes it possible for Dean to share his way of seeing the world. Dean is the rapper, co-songwriter and front man of The Fish Police. Mixing electronic glitchy beats with funk, punk and hip-hop they have created their own unique sound. In 2009 Dean masterminded the Dean Rodney Singers Project, after writing a song called M.I.M.I. The song expressed his vision of a global band made up of 72 artists with and without disabilities working together to create new music, video and dance. This project became a reality in 2012 and culminated in an installation at the Southbank Centre. Dean, along with The Fish Police, performed at the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Paralympic Games and has been featured in Dazed & Confused magazine. His band, The Fish Police will hopefully be playing at the British Underground Showcase at SXSW this year as well.
