Bilal Zuberi
Bilal is attracted to startups that solve real, practical problems with technically ambitious solutions. They are often the first of their kind. Bilal leads Lux’s investments in AirMap, airspace data for drones; Desktop Metal, a metal 3D printing company; Evolv Technology, a physical security company; CyPhy Works, a drone maker; LensBricks, a smart home camera; Orbital Insight, advanced image processing and data science; Super, subscription care for your home; CloudMedx, a health analytics engine; Altspace VR, shared virtual reality; and a few stealth startups: Lumenous3D, Pinscreen and Happiest Baby.
Prior to joining Lux, Bilal was an investor at General Catalyst Partners. And prior to that, an entrepreneur co-founding GEO2 Technologies.
He earned a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (under Prof. Mario Molina, Nobel laureate, 1995), and his technical work has been published in peer-reviewed journals. He holds 30+ patents and patent applications.
