Chad Palmatier

Although born and raised in Pennsylvania, Chad got to Texas as fast as he could. Chad brings nearly two decades of interior design, branding and project management experience working with major brands, such as Victoria’s Secret and Kenneth Cole, to Lick Honest Ice Creams. When he’s not taste testing recipes, he’s maintaining and refining Lick’s brand, culture and customer experience. Chad and his partner Anthony Sobotik opened Lick Honest Ice Creams’ flagship location in Austin in 2011. During the first nine months of Lick Honest Ice Cream’s operation, Anthony and Chad did everything without employees. Anthony produced ice creams in three-gallon batches in the back of the original South Lamar shop while Chad and Anthony’s sister, April, took shifts selling it until they ran out. During the summer of 2013, they began selling pints wholesale to local retailers and moved their production to a kitchen in Northwest Austin. In August 2014, they opened a location in San Antonio at The Pearl, and opened their third location in North Austin in July 2015. They began shipping pints nationally in December 2015, relocated their original location to Lamar Union in March 2016, and opened their fourth shop in Austin’s Mueller neighborhood in April 2017. Lick Honest Ice Creams pints can also be found in quality grocers across the state of Texas and can be shipped anywhere in the continental United States. Since opening, Lick Honest Ice Creams has received praise from several local and national publications, including The New York Times, The Cooking Channel, The Food Network, GQ, Thrillist,Southern Living, Food & Wine, Travel + Leisure, American Doers, and People.
