Michael Daross

Michael is a developer with a design background, or a designer with a development background, depending on the day. Before HomeAway, he spent most of his career creating Flash and Flex applications across multiple industries, including e-learning, green energy, online banking, and casual games. He has worked at companies ranging from 12-person startups to 40,000-strong multinationals, and spent a few mildly stressful years as a freelancer. These days, he enjoys working with creative people to find elegant solutions to tough UI problems. He likes to approach design by questioning things that are taken for granted and starting from the root of the issue.
Outside the office, Michael is a songwriter, dabbles in writing and making all kinds of stuff, and trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is a huge food snob, but will try just about anything as long as it’s well-made.
