John Lilly
John Lilly is Managing Member of Lateral Capital Management, LLC. and its associated funds. Lateral Capital invests in Early Stage companies with a finished product or service, at least one customer, patent protection, which will be of interest to a strategic buyer in 3-5 years and which contribute to the greater good. Over 15+ years, Lateral Capital funds have made over 100 investments, with plans to become one of the industry's most successful investors.
In his earlier Corporate life, Mr. Lilly has built more than 50 branded businesses in 25 countries over 27 years. He began his career at P&G in 1976 and was responsible at one time or another for almost all of that company’s laundry, paper, food and beverage brands. In 1997, Mr. Lilly left P&G to join The Pillsbury Company in Minneapolis, first as President of Pillsbury North America and then as CEO of Pillsbury Worldwide. Pillsbury was a $6.8B company with leading retail and food service businesses in 25 countries; sold to General Mills in 2002 for $10.5B (12.2X EBITDA) .
After Pillsbury was sold, Mr. Lilly “changed careers,” to work full time as an investor/adviser. Through his consultancy, John Lilly Strategic Insights, LLC, he has provided investment sourcing, due diligence and operating counsel to Calera Capital, TPG Capital, Goldman Sachs PIA, Centerbridge Partners and Equity Group Investments. As a FINRA registered representative, he also worked with clients of Lehman Brothers, Duff and Phelps, Morgan Joseph TriArtisan, LLC all in New York. JLSI also provides strategic planning counsel using the Five Questions│One Page® and One Page Strategic Plan® processes developed with two former P&G colleagues.
