Rebecca Brown is the Innocence Project's Policy Director. Rebecca joined the Innocence Project in 2005 and directs its federal and state policy agenda, which is aimed at both revealing & preventing wrongful convictions and assuring adequate compensation for the wrongfully convicted upon release from prison. Rebecca began her career at the Civilian Complaint Review Board, where she investigated allegations of police misconduct for the City of New York. She has also served as the Juvenile Justice Policy Analyst for the Mayor's Office, analyzing policies and programs affecting the delivery of services within the juvenile justice system in New York City, and as a Senior Planner at Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services (CASES), where she conducted research, evaluation and planning work around its alternative to incarceration programs. She graduated cum laude from Barnard College and holds a Masters in Urban Planning, with a concentration in economic and community development, from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University, where she was the recipient of the Public Service Scholarship.
