As a child, Belmer Negrillo experimented constantly, imagining he’d grow up to be a mad scientist. Today, that spirit of curiosity drives his exploration of the unknown as an innovator and creative leader.
At Facebook, he is a UX design lead focused on consumer hardware products.
Experienced in innovation (IDEO), in advertising (Ogilvy and DDB), in fast-paced development (startup), and in multibillion-dollar ecosystems (Facebook & eBay), Belmer has built a holistic understanding of product design and go-to-market strategy.
Belmer’s work has received honors from Webby Awards, Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, The One Show, and Danish INDEX. He holds seven patents, and his creations have appeared in the Italian Fabrica “Mail Me” project, the German book Dos Logos and in the Japanese magazine Web Designing.
Belmer was born and raised in Brasil, a country with severe social disparity. That motivated him to focus on how design can help on social issues. He led projects on education for low-income segments, financial inclusion, health care enrollment, government transparency and civic engagement.
Belmer made a career as an authentic practitioner of Design Thinking at IDEO, and now he is bringing that perspective to humanize the emerging technologies of augmented and virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and connectivity.
