The Case for Culture: Art & Tech in UNESCO Creative Cities

The only U.S. city with a UNESCO Media Arts designation, Austin, Texas is globally celebrated for its innovative and collaborative community bridging the fields of art and technology. As part of the international UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), Austin partners with cities worldwide that have recognized creativity as an essential factor for sustainable economic, social, and cultural development. In this panel, hear from representatives from Austin, Linz, and Sapporo (all UCCN City of Media Arts designees) on their individual and joint initiatives to promote creativity and the cultural industries, strengthen participation in cultural life, and assure the integration of culture into urban development plans.
