Skam: Powerful Digital Storytelling In Real Time

Mar 13, 2018

3:30pm – 4:30pm CT

Incredible storytelling and revolutionary real-time distribution through social media made the Norwegian NRK-produced web series Skam one of the most successful in Scandinavia. Relatable storylines handled social issues many teens struggle with: loneliness, isolation, sexual harassment, gay identity, and religious and ethnic differences. Amazing insight into young people's lives along with innovative use of online platforms earned the show a huge and loyal fan base all over the world.

The American version of the series is shooting now in Austin. The executive producer, showrunner and webproducer will discuss how they created this new model of web series, how they developed the intriguing “clip” style real-time publishing methods, and how they keep the “best fans in the world” engaged online and through social media.
