Trade magazine Music Week’s analysis of the Top 100 UK singles of 2016 shows an average of 4.53 writers being used across the tracks involved. From hubs such as Stockholm, London, Nashville and Los Angeles hit songs are often the result of song camps and co-writing sessions set up by publishers, labels and managers. Each year a select group of songwriters, producers, topliners and artists from across the globe meet during SXSW for an exclusive song camp experience at Austin’s Arlyn Studios. Hear from some of the participating writers and their teams about the process of co-writing, song pitching, and the publishing and master rights issues of songwriting in the age of streaming.
