We live in a flat world where information is easily shared and television and films have a global impact on shaping food culture. Paradoxically, as trust in institutions plummets across many facets of life, increased access to knowledge about our food system often leaves people confused and scared as they stare down a rabbit hole of information. Documentary films like Wasted! (2017) and Fed Up (2014) have helped shed light on extremely important yet overlooked topics such as food waste and how the food industry can have ill effects on health, respectively. Our panel will bring together television/filmmakers and chefs to discuss how they approach storytelling, connect with audiences and the impact their work can have on shaping culture and public policy.
