What happens when a computer misidentifies you? Face recognition can make life more convenient & our streets safer. But its increasing use raises challenging questions about privacy, use v. misuse, & what to do when systems fail—or don’t work equally on everyone. These may be questions of access or exclusion, of justice or injustice. This panel will ask these questions. It will then explore ways these challenges may be managed—privacy by design, inclusive coding practices, and regulatory change.
