Virtual Reality for Empathy Training in Trauma
Code trauma. Sirens wail. An ambulance arrives transporting a patient with multiple gunshots. The trauma team mobilizes, racing to save a life. Every second counts. We share the story in 360 from the perspective of a dying patient and the providers fighting to save him. If the patient survives, the emotional trauma is crippling. We will discuss how virtual reality may be used as a training tool to deepen empathy, improve the trauma experience, and humanize an inhumane process.
