The (R)Evolution of Non-Fiction Aesthetics with Brett Morgen

Mar 11, 2018

3:30pm – 4:30pm CT

In films like The Kid Stays in the Picture, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, Crossfire Hurricane, Chicago 10, and most recently, Jane, Brett Morgen has consistently challenged existing ideas of non-fiction and blazed new paths in an attempt to expand the experience and aesthetic of non-fiction films. In this intimate, hour-long discussion, Morgen’s frequent collaborator and wife, filmmaker Debra Eisenstadt, will lead a provocative discussion, diving deep into Morgen’s unparalleled approach to filmmaking, his radical ideas and refined technique, as well as his thoughts on the state of documentary film today. Morgen’s most recent film Jane will serve as a jumping off point, to what promises to be an animated and illuminating exchange.
