How to Overcome Unconscious Bias in the Job Search
Ever gone to a job interview and the potential employer looks at you with surprise, looks down at your paperwork and then looks at you in a puzzled way? Could it be they were expecting someone who didn’t look like you, or your choice in apparel didn’t match their culture? Now, what do you do to gain their confidence to hire you?
Then there is the hiring manager, who keeps hiring the same type of employee with similar interests, school degrees, and family history.
In a time when so many words are being misconstrued and re-defined in society, and in a season when divisiveness is becoming scathingly cruel, it is time to do a self-evaluation to see how well WE are doing. In this session, let's be proactive and determine what, if any, of our biases are, and work towards correcting them.
