Stimulator Jones at Empire Garage
Stimulator Jones’s music never draws on just one place or time, instead dipping in and out of classic styles from the 1970s and ’80s to the present day. On his debut album Exotic Worlds and Masterful Treasures, his elastic voice and instrumental grooves effortlessly evoke the heady feel of R&B favorites like Rick James, The S.O.S. Band, The Gap Band, and Frankie Beverly & Maze. Roanoke, VA, better known for old-time bluegrass than R&B, might seem an unlikely spot for an artist like Stimulator to hail from, but he believes "all music comes from the same place and shares the same roots. It all stems from the original vibration.”
