In 2004, Dave Hill (@midnight, Inside Amy Schumer) began posing online as a teenager named Lance, the founder of a black metal band called Witch Taint, and tried to get signed to a Norwegian black metal record label. The email exchanges between Dave and the label are now legendary. (People in Norway still buy Witch Taint t-shirts.) Dave and musician Phil Costello will read from the viral emails that almost got the band signed. They’ll close with a performance from Witch Taint’s terrifying catalogue.
