Kaeya Majmundar
"You're not an entrepreneur," is what Barbara Corcoran told then 20 year old Kaeya Majmundar on the Season 5 Finale of ABC's "Shark Tank." Even so, Kaeya walked away with a deal in hand from Lori Greiner for her collapsible storage box concept, BZbox. What stood out to Kaeya from that "Shark Tank" experience more than anything, was the sales explosion and media frenzy her product experienced as soon as the episode aired despite the fact that she barely even had a prototype to show for it.
That's when she realized it was less about the product itself, and more so about HOW you sell it. After "Shark Tank," Kaeya became obsessed with the idea of replicating what she calls the #SharkTankEffect with more products.
Using her connections, and knack for product development, Kaeya branded herself as a co-founder of consumer product brands with celebrities and social media influencers because she knew she could leverage their fanbase and online presence to sell explosively just as she had done on "Shark Tank." Kaeya fished through her network and landed her first deal with Jay Z's Roc Nation rapper, Vic Mensa. Together, they sold her product, ZipTank, a basketball jersey that doubles as a bag. Sales of ZipTank skyrocketed and caught media attention in waves.
Now, at 24, Kaeya has gone on to co-found a variety of consumer product brands with celebrities and influencers, handling everything on the back end from sourcing, manufacturing, fulfilling etc. She has been able to drive 6 figures in sales without spending a dime on marketing over the past year or so. Take that Barbara :)
