Ana María was a member of the Mexican Foreign Service from 1999 to 2011. During this period she had many responsibilities amongst the most relevant, she was Consul of Community Affairs in Atlanta, Director of Economic Affairs at the Institute for Mexicans Abroad and in charge of developing the Network of Mexican Highly Qualified Migrants.

In 2011 she decided to move to the private sector and has since then founded two companies, including Hearcolors, Mexican startup specialized in Web Accessibility. She also represents Casa México SXSW in Mexico where she coordinates efforts to build an effective platform for Mexican Entrepreneurs.
