Jack Resneck Jr
Jack Resneck Jr., MD is a dermatologist and health policy expert from the San Francisco Bay Area, and serves as a Trustee of the American Medical Association. Passionate about advocacy for physicians and patients, he has held several leadership positions in organized medicine. In addition to his work with the AMA, he served as president of the California Society for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Resneck was elected to the board of directors of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), which has awarded him several presidential citations, as well as its prestigious Clarence S. Livingood Award and Lectureship. Dr. Resneck is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Resneck is vice chair and professor of dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and holds a joint appointment at the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies. He is deeply engaged in modernizing medical education and teaching the next generation of physicians, and chaired the committee that oversees UCSF's innovative medical school curriculum.
Dr. Resneck has a busy clinical practice and cares for patients with a wide range of skin diseases. He is active in health services research, and has published on telemedicine and digital health, physician workforce issues, access to outpatient specialty care, the impact of non-physician clinicians, and health system reform. He is a sought after speaker and has given dozens of invited lectureships around the country.
Dr. Resneck received his B.A. in public policy from Brown University and his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco. His internship in internal medicine, residency in dermatology, and health policy fellowship were also at UCSF.
